The Apuseni Mountains (Romanian: Munţii Apuseni, Hungarian: Erdélyi-szigethegység) is a mountain range in Transylvania, Romania, which belongs to the Western Carpathians, also called Occidentali in Romanian. Their name translates from Romanian as Mountains “of the sunset” i.e. “western”.
